Double Glazed Smart GlassThe Perfect Outdoor Solution

Double glazed smart glass is a type of glass that has two layers of glass separated by a thin layer of air or gas. The inner layer of the glass is made of a special material that can be electronically controlled to change its transparency. This technology allows the glass to switch between a clear and opaque state with just the touch of a button, making it an ideal solution for privacy, security, and light control.

Double glazed smart glass is commonly used in outdoor settings, such as on the exterior of buildings or in outdoor enclosures, because it is highly durable and weather-resistant. The glass is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including wind, rain, and extreme temperatures.

One of the main benefits of double glazed smart glass is its ability to reduce heat and noise. The air or gas layer between the two layers of glass acts as an insulator, preventing heat from escaping or entering the building. This helps to regulate the temperature inside the building and reduce the amount of energy needed to heat or cool the space. Additionally, the two layers of glass, combined with the insulating layer, provide excellent noise reduction, helping to block out unwanted outdoor noise.

One thing to note is that double glazed smart glass typically requires a frame to cover the edges of the glass. This is because the edges of the glass are typically the weakest point and can be more prone to damage. The frame helps to protect the glass and provide additional support, ensuring that the glass remains secure and in place. Additionally, the frame can help to enhance the aesthetic of the glass and complement the overall design of the building or enclosure.

Q&As

The power should be ON in order for the film to turn clear. In case of electricity shortage it will instantly turn opaque.

Smart glass and film go from clear to frosted with the flick of a switch providing privacy on demand. However, when the glass is switched to clear there can be a slight haze. This cannot be avoided due to the presence of small droplets that reflect the light.

Smart glass and film contain a PDLC layer when powered on the crystals align and the glass become clear, when powered off the crystals scatter the light and the glass appears to be frosted. These crystals are responsible for the slight haze that can be seen.

Under normal lighting conditions, the Smart Glass displays optimum clarity.
